There is room for everyone. It appears many thousands of fence sitters got off the cougar fence and are quietly bringing out the red and white. You can see it in attendance. You can read it on the chat boards. Interest is waning at a rapid pace.
As a loyal Ute fan, season ticket holder and a wife that works at the University of Utah as a nurse, we bleed red. My mom was a cougar and some of my cousins played and graduated from BYU. I cheer for BYU when they aren't playing Utah. I want BYU in the Big 12 as I believe it will happen one day. It will bring better teams to Provo and better recruits as well.
My uncle played for Utah but was a cougar club member. He gave up his his cougar club tix after 35 years and bought tix through the Crimson Club a few years ago. I razzed him pretty good. His wife refuses to attend in Utah. He now brings one of his loyal "cougar" friends and both wear red. I believe this trend will continue unless BYU gets into a good conference.
Hard to find tickets to my Utes anymore. Tonight's game against USC will be the biggest crowd in Utah history. Talk of stadium expansion is happening again. 5 years of sell outs and standing room only is the norm in SLC.
