BYU would be such a better missionary tool without it. You would still get almost 100% LDS kids attending BYU. The football program would be much better. And you could actually have some real missionary work at BYU (i.e., teaching the Gospel to people who don't already live it). There's a reason why the Salt Lake area is always the highest-baptizing: there's a good mix of non-LDS and LDS folks. I don't understand why BYU administrators see it in the university's best interest to coddle kids by FORCING them to live the way they think is right rather than trusting them as grown adults to make decisions for themselves.
