Before any of that
We need players who want to be on the field, that play with passion, that give it all on every play. Whether that means we need different players (not entitled), different motivation, different coaches, IDK the answer.

But it doesn't matter if we recruit the best players in the nation, if the players don't play like they want to win, BYU won't win. A lot of people still say that this BYU team has more talent than any team in recent history. However, this team is losing because they don't have that spark, that passion, that hunger to win.

Again, it doesn't matter if the schemes are perfect, as we've seen, the coaches can put the players in the right spot, but if the players don't wrap up and make the play, it doesn't matter. I think the sheet number of missed tackles, jogging players, and patty-cake playing linemen, shows that the schemes aren't the problem, the problem is the players not playing with heart (ie, not executing).

I think the the core problem with this team is that they are mentally and emotionally beat, so they don't stand a chance on the field. IDK how much of that comes from player personalities and how much is attributable to coaches who have lost the players, but if you don't get rid of the attitude infection, it doesn't matter what you do to cover the problems, the program will begin to fester before long.
