"I called every defensive play, trying to help turn some momentum and generate some excitement and passion to play great defense," BYU coach Bronco Mendenhall said. "I wanted the kids to be able to execute at a higher level, but I didn't have the kids prepared enough. We could have played better."
From the ESPN recap of last night's game. The fact he was calling the defense and yet we look like Swiss cheese is very disconcerting... makes me wonder about the mental state the team. That said, I appreciate that for the first time perhaps this season - or in many seasons - Bronco took accountability for the on-field performance and didn't simply chalk it up to lack of execution by players. If he is finally looking in the mirror there is cause for a glimmer of hope going forward.
