freshmen. They were ready and he saw no need to make them wait.
Last year, he was trying to convince his top defensive linemen to come back to Arkansas for another year (instead of entering the NFL draft). He told the media/fans/everyone that this guy was his top "recruit" and then flew to his home and spoke to the player (Trey Flowers) and his parents about the benefits of finishing his education AND how they'd try to increase his draft stock.
Travis Swanson was drafted last year by the Lions, he was with Bielema in nearly every single media event. He regularly sends just "big uglies" to media days.
His mantra is that he wants "uncommon men" at Arkansas and he's gone out and signed one of the top classes for next season DESPITE losing 16 games in a row in the SEC (

Oh, and last year, he had more players in the Super Bowl than any other active coach. Sure, it might be a fluke, but I think that he's building leaders.

There's more. He develops his coaches. Schools are constantly trying to hire his guys and they often get hired away (e.g., Charlie Partridge, Paul Chryst, Matt Canada).
It's too bad that he's not a member of the Church (and that BYU doesn't pay more), because he'd thrive at BYU.
