For years and years Michigan treated Michigan State like a little brother. Then Michigan State started taking steps to narrow the gap. Mark Dantonio came in and made beating Michigan a priority. The game became a focus for them every year and whether it was in the weight room pushing out one more rep or running an extra mile or more time in the film room they prepared. Now each year it is ingrained into the culture at MSU and beating Michigan is expected and prepared for during the offseason and during the season. This famous quote and story are now legend in Michigan and especially for Michigan State fans.

Reminds me of what Urban Meyer did at Utah. He completely changed the attitude toward BYU and the rivalry got turned on its head.
