I think many people overreact to what BYU really is. BYU is never going to be a
constant football power. Every 15 years or so they will have a luke staley and go on a nice run, maybe finish in the top 10, but realistically, we are a nice place where developing young men in life is our top priority....and running a good clean program. We will never have the facilities to compete with the elite, or the money to pay great assistant coaches. The sooner people realize this reality, the sooner your live is not as hopeless. Because, that is what BYU is, and it is never going to change. We should be between 22 and 40th every year, with the odd run every 12 to 15 years. If you cant handle that, you probably better look into a new team.

And spare the "we were great with Lavell" stuff. It was a totally different time where we could get around the honor code, where our offense was still a new anomaly, and the money/talent landscapes of college football were not what they are now.
