The apologist like to pretend that you can't have a top college football team and follow BYU's rules? Isn't the whole idea, the whole reason BYU even fields a tem, is to prove that you can have both. Not every year, not every two years, but every once in a blue moon we should at least be able to entertain the idea for more than 4 or 5 games. The truth is there is lack of faith is not in fans that "whine" but in the fans that accept complacency, the fans that would hold tight to any statistic rather than accept the idea that the current coach simply isn't up to the task.
BYU can do it, it's just a matter of finding the coach that is willing to make it happen AND follow BYU's rule. Bronco is not that guy. He's a good guy that can accomplish a lot of good in the world but he's not maximizing the BYU football experience. It's time to move on and give someone else the opportunity.
