I'm sure they'd love to go to 16 teams and have a western division for football that included: Boise, BYU, Fresno/UNLV, and SDSU.

In such an alignment, you'd see BYU in a conference that looked like this:

West: Boise, BYU, Fresno/UNLV, and SDSU, Houston, SMU, Memphis, Tulsa
East: Cincinnati, Connecticut, East Carolina, South Florida, Central Florida, Navy, Temple, Tulane

Icky you say? How is Memphis worse than Middle Tennessee? And, we already play Boise, Fresno, UNLV, Connecticut, Central Florida, and South Florida. It's like we're already playing in this conference, but we don't get any of the benefits.
