I wouldn't vehemently disagree with that quote. All he is really saying is that

our economic system is driven by consumer demand. The demand for a product creates the jobs. The corporations are there to satisfy the demand. It is a little of a chicken-or-the-egg type of a debate, though. To what degree do corporations drive the demand vs. to what degree demand drives the corporations.
