at the byu off campus housing meeting now - a major issue right now
Is "emotional support animals". Recently statutes have allowed for anyone under the sun to claim they need an emotional support animal. They don't need a doctor's note - a parent, brother, sister, friend can write a note and legally apartments owners have to comply.

Landlords and owners hate pets on property because they destroy carpets, cause nuisances, noise issues, etc. It is even a bigger issue when you have roommates who got the apartment thinking there was a no pet policy and all of a sudden some girl /guy wants a dog for emotional support without even being diagnosed with a problem and all the other roommates have to deal with it. Or we have to move tenants around. Then some roommates can claim they have allergy issues and they legally need to move. Small apartment owners struggle most if they don't have other tenants to trade with. Housing director told us to "grin and bear it"

Congratulations government. This has been a major issue the last 12 months
