The road calls!
When I bought my tickets to the Middle Tenn game, I would not have predicted that the road would have so many twists and turns. But one thing was pretty certain: the road would lead to Murfreesboro, and I and my crew and a whole lot of other folks would pile into minivans and other vehicles and meet there for a contest of strength, skill, cunning, and will.
In less than a day, my crew and I will be on our way, and I'm looking forward to seeing my Cougar brothers and sisters out in force. This is a turning point. The win-loss scales are balanced. This is a big one. And who would have guessed all those weeks ago when I bought my tickets that this game would be so big?
Not I. I imagined a fairly certain victory; I imagined a worthy foe that we would meet and defeat; I imagined an opportunity for our second and third stingers to gain experience as they closed out a game that was not in question.
Well. Parts of what I imagined will still come about. We will meet a worthy foe. Our second and third stringers will gain experience. But everything else is much more questionable.
But this is not something to lament. Ask yourself what makes for greatness. Ask yourself where the greater glory lies.
See you at the game!
Go COUGARS!
