The irony of playing Riley Nelson was that last season

Hill was on the bench. Riley was the starter. It was also just blind luck that Hill was at BYU. Originally recruited by Stanford, but couldn't make it back in time from his mission, so came to BYU.

Idaho player of the year, not recruited by BYU. I'd like to just write all this off because the coaches are nice guys, but it's just do obvious.
