The horror reflected in Matt's eyes when he's looking down into the open casket is unbelievably genius acting. We don't need to see the body - we know how bad it is. I also love the dinner scene at the Taylor's, when Matt finally breaks down, and makes his speech about not wanting to be a hateful person, about how he poured all his hate into his father so that he could be a good person in general, and to Julie in particular. Just brilliant stuff.
Oh yeah, I also love the scene with Mrs. Taylor and Matt at the funeral home, with Mrs. Taylor making sure the funeral home didn't sink their claws too deeply into Matt. Just great writing, and brilliant performances.
The grave-side scene is just awesome. Matt's bloody hands tell quite a story. And the music is perfect.
I could go on and on about this episode.
