Now before UTAh fans get all defensive, remember that BYU didn't get an idaho state level program until today. Utah already had that stat building game early in the season. So before everyone crow's Kilani Sitaki as the big answer to BYU, you should consider these hard numbers:

Utah Total Defense = 4,404 yards surrendered, 400.36 YPG (NCAA Rank should be around 67th after this week's games are finalized).
BYU Total defense = 4,043 yards surrendered, 367.55 YPG (NCAA Rank should be around 40th after this week's games are finalized).

Utah Scoring Defense = 280 points surrendered, 25.45 PPG
BYU Scoring Defense = 268 points surrendered, 24.36 PPG

Now in fairness to Utah, they played a more difficult schedule than BYU, but in terms of offenses faced, there has been little difference vs BYU's foes. Also, Utah has a seven game home schedule, and BYU only had six home games. So there is some mitigating equality overall. All things being extremely equal does Kilani Sataki look like the all everything Defensive Coordinator BYU wants? I am not so sure. I think the best part of Utah's defense is Tuiaki, the Defensive Line coach. BYU is more than just a step below him in terms of D=line production. BYU got just two sacks today against one of the worst FCS programs in the country. Utah would have had between five and ten sacks today.

I absolutely believe coaches Nick Howell and Steve Kaufusi should be replaced at the end of the year. BYU needs a truly aggressive DC (preferably one with SEC experience) and the secondary has been badly mismanaged for years now. It is time for a change! But thinking that Kilani Sitaki is the answer is just foolish. He has his moments for sure, but I am not that impressed with Utah's defense overall. If BYU makes a change, i would like to see it go for someone outside the BYU historic system. Bring in someone that knows great defense and can compliment Bronco, not be the lapdog eating from Bronco's table and wasting his time.
