Here's my take on BYU and lower expectations

Being a fan is easier if you support them from a values standpoint, winning aside if you need a big time college football fix I would pick a secondary team to root for like bama, Ohio state, whoever floats your boat maybe you served s mission in Oregon so you root for them. I don't think that diminishes you as a BYU fan a lot of people are fans of multiple teams.
