I went through this process before buying my plasma
I came to the conclusion that LCDs/LEDs are brighter but plasmas excel at picture contrast if you are in a darker room. The picture on the plasma is just beautiful and deep and rich. But if you put a plasma in a well-lit room, there is a ton of reflection and it loses its luster. It is also easier to view the plasma from any angle. The plasma consumes more power. Those were the major differences that I came across.

The picture on the plasma should be more sharp as long as the picture is optimized and it isn't in a bright room.
