Went to work this morning only to be laid off in the first 60 seconds..
Thanksgiving/Christmas layoffs especially suck. The only other time I've been laid off it was my first job out of college, on a Friday about 30 minutes before I was scheduled to go home. That's how it's supposed to work. But I atleast had an idea that one was coming. Considering I had 3 co-workers get canned in the previous 2 months. And they all had seniority on me. The department head said he liked me so he held on as long as he could.

Mostly out of left field on this one. Revenues have dropped the last year due to the fact our local competitor has better turnaround and more competitive pricing. So we've take a hit but not THAT much.

What a crappy feeling. Now I get to feign 100% confidence to the wife even though I'm more than a little nervous. Improvise, Adapt, and Overcome.

I'm confident it will all be fine in the long run, it's just the short term I worry about.
