The knock on Taysom has always been his throwing. His strength is his running. You substitute Hosick at QB, which might downgrade your running from the QB position, but upgrade (or at least not downgrade) your throwing. It puts Taysom out in the open field where he can do even more damage with his legs, but not risk the constant battering he's taking running the ball from the QB position.
Not saying, or even recommending they do it. But, if what Monty says is true (and that's a big if), why wouldn't you look at all the assets you have and see if there is a way to better exploit defenses by mixing things up a bit.
