He was a good coach, and he helped turn the U around and make them competitive, but he was definitely not a legend. Lavell was a legend, yes, McBride not so much.

For the record, I wish McBride was still coaching at Utah. The rivalry was a lot friendlier and not nearly as nasty and heated as it is now. The rivalry has become much more hateful under Urban Meyer and Kyle Whittingham. Also, if McBride were still coaching at Utah, I believe the Utes would still be in the Pac-12 and BYU would still be top dog in the state.
