and every conference gets its champion in the tournament. That would make conference play mean everything. How exciting is it in the last weeks of basketball when teams are battling for their conference and a chance to go to the dance?

I guess you would need 16 teams for that but with 8 you could at least give a spot to the top team in the G5 and 2 at large spots.

I that scenario I would be marginally OK with a move back to the MWC.
