SOS is a better measure than fake trophies from "conference championships."
SOS allows you to compare how your performance compares to the performance of other teams. Since the best teams are located primarily in the South, you can't compare winning the B1G title to winning the SEC.
I agree that we need an 8 team playoff. However, I think that conference championships should only count in as much as they're another game on the schedule and another chance for teams to improve their resume. Outside of this, being the best regional power shouldn't matter at all because your region may be made up of inferior teams.
By the way, this line is a joke and it's been discussed over and over:
"Meanwhile aTm and Missouri were both average in the B12 but challenged for the SEC championship their first season in the conference."
Missouri and A&M would have made a lot of noise in the B12 that year. Missouri was/is stacked AND A&M had a new coach, an NFL QB, several NFL o-linemen, and a couple of NFL playmakers. If it's so easy for a team to waltz into the SEC and win...then why is A&M having such a difficult time this year?
