Referee Mistakes
Sometimes reffs have good games, sometimes they have bad games. I happen to believe the Purdue game was bad. Here are some reasons:

1. Video overturned call on ball going out of bounds in the OT. The ref simply blew the call, he made a mistake. Fortunately, this one didn't cost us.

2. Tripping Chase. It wasn't intentional, but shows bad court awareness by the official. He should be more aware of the action, another bad mistake by the official.

3. Stopping play on the hurt finger. This wiped two points off the board for BYU. Purdue was on defense, and it was the pinky finger on his non-shooting hand. You can't stop the offense when they are moving toward the basket. You have to wait for a clear breaking point, not when we're attacking the basket. Once again, a bad call by the referee, not a judgement call but a bad call.

4. "Inadvertant" whistle on Haws block. They didn't do any inadvertant whistles on Purdue, and quite frankly I would guess that is probably the only inadvertant whistle we see in a BYU game this season. I also think this shows some prejudice from the referee, expecting Haws to foul. He also showed additional bad judgement in telling them to play on instead of immediately owning up to his mistake.

I really hope these officials get nailed on their evaluations, and these mistakes keep them from making the tourney. All 4 of these are bonehead mistakes - not charge/block judgement calls.
