Of the various dogs we're had over the years, the best one was a mix between Rottweiler and Golden Retriever. He looked like a big black Golden Retriever but had a very deep and loud bark like a Rottweiler. His personality was also a mix. He was very loving and protective of his family & house. However, he would always bark and alert of someone he didn't know. If we didn't indicate that the 'stranger' was ok he would remain suspicious of whomever was at the door. We had several occasions where we would find flyers and other solicitations 10-20 feet in front of our frontdoor on returning home because someone decided it was better to just drop the flyer there rather than going all the way to the front door.
