She is a German Shorthair, sweet dog, and has been so great with our kids. We used to joke that if someone broke in she would lick them to death or roll over so they could scratch her belly.

But when a large dog senses danger they can change from what you know them to be. Someone tried to break in to my son's bedroom. I had heard noises and was slowly getting up to investigate when the dog bolted from the kitchen to the boy's room. She looked and sounded ferocious. I wasn't willing to touch her in case it startled her and she snapped. She made it clear to the person trying to come in that he'd regret it if successful.

Never saw that side of her before and haven't seen it since. But we have had better piece of mind knowing she is aware of situations and acts in defense of her family.
