and that includes SDSU's game with BYU or Aztec defense would be ranked higher. BYU was 1.06 points per possession vs SDSU which allows only .871 PPP. Utah defense is not nearly as good at .929, though better than BYU at .985, SVU and Chaminade not included. Moreover, BYU has played much tougher D-1 teams than the Utes.
Furthermore, vs Purdue and USU which are statistically good defensive teams, BYU scored impressive 1.10 and 1.20 PPP. D-1 average is .996
So far, BYU offense has not been stopped by excellent defense.
I never predict individual games, but you could make worse bets than heavily favor BYU in Wednesday's game at home. You just never know who will be feeling it on a particular day. BYU defense is the primary concern.
