It's really easy for coaches to wear out their welcome, especially when they struggle to achieve the success they had earlier in their careers.
Fair or not that is the way it is. I think it's smart for coaches to constantly be on the move and always leave people wanting more, but loyalty and other concerns often get in the way.
I'm fine with bronco as coach when he handles the defense, and I think a lot of the common criticisms leveled against him are complete bunk/false narratives/deliberate misunderstandings of a hungry fan base, but I also think it would be a good career move for bronco to bail to a school that'd be excited to have him. I think the same of Stoops, Firenze, Richt and a slew of other coaches.
