Your question should be asked only if/when ESPN doesn't re-up our deal in 2019.
If ESPN continues to pay BYU, put the Cougs on TV coast-to-coast, and act as a matchmaker with P5 teams, then BYU could remain independent far into the future with hardly a thought given to joining the AAC or rejoining the MWC.
