I agree that simple sugars and refined carbohydrates need to be reduced in the majority of our diets, but to me the paleo diet goes a bit too far without too much basis in actual fact. Nice theory, but some flaws. I understand that modeling diet after what humans might have eaten in paleolithic times might be beneficial, but some of the restrictions have little basis in accepted food and medical science and go too far.
Whole grains, legumes, fruits are all very healthy as part of a balanced diet.
