restless. When my wife started making noise about it a few months ago, I knew I was in trouble...
For a little background, I purchased my current 50" in 1999 and it was last year's technology (I have a hard time throwing away something that works perfectly good - I was able to find some peace in that I heard Best Buy will recycle the electronics...)
OK - I don't need to buy the extreme most current technology, but need a little insight on what to avoid and/or what to look for. I've seen that they have 80" screens - I hate to ask this, but does size matter that much? I have seen 50" TV's for $450. Seems like a steal versus spending $2,000 for an 80".
I assume I want a smart TV, but checking if that matters (or if you can even buy one that isn't). Is it important to buy a TV that has Roku/Netflix/google/etc. built in?
Also, I am pretty sure that I have the old DirecTV dish/receiver - will that even work with the new TV's, or will I need an upgrade (it was installed 5 1/2 years ago)? If I don't upgrade, will everything be blurry on my new TV because of the old receiver?
I assume we will buy it from Costco, so tell me if I should steer somewhere else. We have a Best Buy and an HHGregg close by, as well as a Sam's club.
Keep it simple if you would. A few, "here is what I would buy today and from where" would be great. TIA.
