My least favorite strategy across sports, especially soccer,
Is when a team takes the lead and takes their foot off the gas. The team can be rock solid on fire, score, and then melt away.

Happened with RSL all season.

Happened with BYU all season.

The USMNT nearly drew to Ghana due to this, and gave up a draw to Portugal because of this.

Valencia is currently up 1-0 over Eibar and giving them the possession.

Why do teams think this is a good idea? I understand that they want to protect their lead, but it's a critical error. Get up 2-3 scores and then set up your defense, ride out the clock, or go for the throat.
