Texas' relationship with the PAC reminds me of BYU with the MWC
The two parties COULD work together. The conference definitely wants Texas. But Texas has mixed feelings about it. So they're passing, at least for now.

The PAC reached out to Texas Tech, Oklahoma & Oklahoma State. PAC's plan was to get those 3 to bite so the B12 would be badly weakened & Texas would've been forced to go west. This pissed off Texas. So Texas reached out to the ACC & arranged for a ND-style deal. At least that's how Deloss Dodds explained it.

I'm sure the PAC partisans see it differently. They'll say the B12 schools reached out to the PAC. But it really doesn't matter. No more than if Hawaii, Fresno & Nevada first approached the MWC. The MWC got those 3 to bite, fatally wounding the WAC. This pissed off BYU, who reached out to the WCC.

Anyway, my point is that there are still some hard feelings. The 2 sides may reconcile but it will take time.
