Let's think this through - if we go to the B12 - we've got to play and beat the best teams of the B12 to get into the playoff. Not easy (ask the Utes what that's like). The road to the playoff goes through Baylor, TCU, TX (considering their recruiting class this year seems that program is headed back up). That's not a road we are likely to survive very often if ever.
But if we stay Indy, we could schedule middle of the pack P5 schools, middle and top tier G5 schools, and a couple UNLV/Savanna State types. We could lose one of those games and end up ranked around 20th in the country and that would probably be good enough in some years to get into the playoff. So without ever playing a top 15 ranked team in the regular season we could end up in the playoff.
