I followed him and watched or listened to as many games as I could. After he retired, I no longer followed the team, even though I grew up in the Bay Area. In fact, I really don't follow professional sports much unless there is a former BYU player (Jimmer, Kyle, Ziggy and others).
I watch the Pelicans in hopes of seeing Jimmer get a chance and I believe that when he gets in the right place and gets a consistent opportunity, he can do special things.
What I'm leading up to is I don't follow Jabari even though he is LDS and a really nice guy. I think others are like me with Steve Young. I believe that there were so many LDS members and BYU fans that followed him with a passion. I have a hard time believing the many of us are seriously following Jabari. I don't even know that he has myriads of Dukes fans saying, "hey, let's tune into this NBA game tonight so that we can catch Jabari." He really is just another former Duke player. And yes, it would be nice to refer to BYU players by having so many good ones that we just see them as "just another former BYU player."
My point is that Jabari made a personal decision to go to a great basketball school, but I think he and BYU would have faired better with him at BYU. I know it is just a selfish wish, but I think Jabari would today have myriads more fans. Judging by the lack of discussion about him on CB, I'm guessing that most here don't show him serious interest. Do you?
