Conventional wisdom says to keep fighting a war with an enemy that was entrenched and willing to commit their own suicide. Dropping the bomb wasn't an easy decision.....and my Grandfather was in the Pacific during that time. I look at selfishly as me and my family may not be here today if the US didn't decide to end it.
