IMO, it was a calculated decision and it worked. It was meant to break
the will of the people. I can't describe my opinion on a single post, but as hard of a decision as it was, I believe it to be correct. The fire bombing of Tokyo didn't break the will of the Japanese to fight to the last man, woman and child. Nothing short of dropping the bomb at the heart of the country would have made Japan surrender.
