Question for those who've cruised Royal Caribbean

How stringent are they about letting you bring soda or other non-alcoholic drinks aboard? The FAQs on their website say that you can't bring soda onboard, but others I've talked to say they've been able to in their experience.

We always bring water, Gatorade, soda in a separate bag. Never had a problem.
