Kind of tired of everyone blaming injuries for our lack of success in sports.
We have no down low presence. We are trying to play a game with half a deck, not due to injuries. The only reason we have 15 wins is we have SOLID guard play. Injuries are simply not our problem. Recruiting, defense, and rebounding are our problem! We recruit crappy big men...so much that fans are all clamoring for Nate Austin (of all people) to return to save our squandering team. Austin, who isn't a threat on the court at all (though I'll give him credit for rebounds), gets dominated by all other opposing big men. Somehow we desperately want him back saying that he'll solve all of our problems!?!?! This is a recruiting and coaching flaw. We have recruited and given scholarships to poor big men, who don't really fit into our system, have no down low moves, and can't grab and blasted rebound for their lives! You can't tell me that there aren't better big men out there than Worthington, Nielsen, Kaufusi, & Nixon that wouldn't want to play for BYU. Church ball sports better bigs. Look at every solid, deep, tournament worthy team and what do they have? A complete deck of cards (including bigs) with solid back-ups. Lets address the root of the problem, not the band aid issue.

As for football, I understand that we had a ton of injuries and that Taysom is a freak talent, top notch in the country. But once again, we didn't recruit well. No bashing on Christian Stewart, the kid can flat out throw the ball and I believe has a better arm than Taysom. However, if Taysom is your offense and you run him like crazy...his chances of getting injured are high. If you're going to use that philosophy then recruit a back-up QB who can run. We had to reconstruct our whole offense because Taysom went down. We no longer were Go Fast, Go Hard, we had to adjust the entire scheme...that plus having Bronco turn the D over, were deadly for us in what turned out to be the hardest 4 game stretch of the season.

There's my rant. Don't blame injuries. Blame poor recruiting. Injuries are part of the game and should be expected.
