Any CBers know about practicing dentistry or living in the Bay Area?
My wife is visiting there this weekend (staying in Menlo park at her friends tiny 2 bedroom apartment that she pays $2400/month for) and has fallen in love with the bay area, so just for kicks we are contemplating how it would be to live there.

We lived in Morgan Hill for a while when I was a kid and my dad commuted to Sunnyvale every day(which he absolutely hated), so I have a pretty general idea of the pros and cons of living in that part of the country, but I am just curious it is possible to make it there as a dentist, even more specifically as a Pediatric dentist?

I understand that taxes, politics, and real estate are insane, and would make for a tight budget and a tiny house/apartment situation for a while, but the more time my wife and I spend debating where we want to live long term (Portland or Denver are the other top contenders but both have big drawbacks in our opinions-Im from Oregon and dread returning to the gloom, and we currently live in Colorado Springs my wife has solidified her absolute hatred of snowy weather that began at Byu and continued in Chicago), we are thinking that we would rather pay a premium to live in an incredibly beautiful place with all the culture and food and entertainment that we enjoy, rather than constantly traveling to desirable places, but living in a place we don't enjoy. Give me some feedback...
