So many in this board are upset that BYU didn't show enough love to Empey early enough and understand that because of that, he will look elsewhere?

Compare that to Covey that was waiting to see if Stanford offered to include them in his options and many on this board don't see the irony in this?

So some kids wait for offers before they rule out schools and others don't? Sounds like a tough position for the coaches to be in. Somehow they need to read kids' minds?

Recruiting is hard. You only hear one side of the story because BYU cannot comment. Only 25 or so kids in the country have a chance to sign with BYU each year. I can assure you that the coaches want to sign the best talent that they can get. The rest is what you get by dealing with 17-18 year old kids.

I have a "friend" with a son that is getting recruited and even they do not know what all of the local teams are thinking about his son. It's a lot of conjecture until an offer actually comes.
