Willpower and diet. I absolutely hate nutritional science. But from your own
experience, have you noticed that your willpower is connected at all with what you eat? My wife told me that she read an article that reports a correlation between high sugar consumption and heavy porn use. I laughed when I heard that. It's not hard to imagine that the heavy users of porn are also the sad saps who eat nothing but garbage all day.

Anyway, after reading about the addictive nature of sugar, I wanted to try a two week sugar fast. I did that during the first two weeks of the year and it was a kind of a weird experience. I definitely experienced some intense cravings during the first five days, then they were much easier to control. I ate tons of nuts, fruits, and seeds during the day and drank a lot of water and chewed sugar free gum. The strange thing was that I found it easier to stay productive during the work day. I've been easing sugar back into my diet this last week, and yesterday I binged on birthday cake and pop. Today I'm having a really hard time doing anything productive even though I have a lot to do. I just can't will myself to do it.

Have you noticed any connection between your diet and your willpower, particularly sugar consumption?
