Definitely doable
I did my first half last April and used this training plan:
http://www.marathonrookie.com/support-files/10weekhalfmarathonschedule.pdf
It's the only plan I've ever used so I don't have anything to compare it to, but I thought it worked really well for me. I was about 30 lbs overweight when I started and in my early 30s.

Another vote for Hal Higdon; his plans are great.

Also, how big should my 13.1 car sticker be? enormous or just huge?

Wrong. You need to save half the car for future Ragnar or 26.2 stickers.
