I like Reno. The town is ho hum, but the environs are amazing.
Tahoe is a gem. One of my favorite places to vacation. Yosemite, Mammoth Lakes, and the entire Eastern Sierra Nevada are all nearby. San Francisco is only a few hours away.
The Carson Valley towns of Minden and Gardnerville are very pretty and are located in a beautiful setting near South Lake Tahoe; however, they are also quite pricey compared to Reno.
