That last image at the end of American Sniper with his coffin and trident pins
is powerful. What an incredible ending to an impressive movie.

I read American Sniper when it first came out and his follow up book about guns, and had been a long-time admirer of Chris and his accomplishments. I was shocked and saddened when I heard about his sudden death in February 2013, especially because it was at the hands of a fellow soldier he was trying to help. But I thought this movie was a fitting and honorable dedication to his life.

I thought the overwhelming theme of the movie, in addition to being a biopic on his service, was his battle with the demons of PTSD and trying to balance his work with his family life. It wasn't about glorifying battle or glamorizing the Iraq war. I wish that people on both sides of the aisle would stop politicizing the movie because they are doing Chris, his family, and memory a disservice.

I'm just grateful we have guys like Chris who are willing to selflessly serve and give their all. No matter your view on the Iraq war or snipers, Chris Kyle was a true hero in every sense of that word and ought to honored as such.
