Let me put it this way:
If you have $700B in market cap, you'd better be earning enough in profits to make your bazillion shareholders happy. That shareholder capital is deployed to grow the company and shareholders expect a certain ROI or they take their money elsewhere.

If you can only access $10B in shareholder capital, you're going to have a lot harder time coming up $18B in profits than if you have $700B.
