the sad thing is...bronco blew his chance last year...he's done
the fervor against him is growing among fans and ex-players and i only suspect current players as well. compare and contrast how the team responded in ONE week when he took over D in 2010, vs 2014. granted, BSU on the road is a HECK of a lot different than SDSU at home, but still...seems like the same voice is growing old.

if i can pin one weakness on bronco that has led to his "demise" it is big-picture administrative type decisions. promotion of hill, promotion of doman, riley/jake debacle, promoting howell, etc. i really think 2014 may have been his last chance to win people over. he had a manageable schedule, some good talent on the team and he decides to, in the most important year of his tenure, give the reins of his well-oiled defensive machine to a boy scout with no resume...again, who on earth thought that was a good decision? i could explain the basic facts to any business person or those authors that wrote all those books he loves so much, and in about 18 seconds they would all (100%) say "why on earth would he do that?" they could say this not knowing about football and BYU and it's still such a bone-headed decision.

now he goes into the final 2 years of his contract facing 2 BRUTAL schedules. the first with his star QB and RB coming of season-ending injuries and a september that would make Bama squeemish. and the latter with a new QB, RB and who knows who else trying to break the 2 deep...not promising. the last 10 years of data tell us bronco will go 8-5 next season...AT BEST. that will be what 5 of 6 seasons are 8 win seasons. 2016 will be even worse given all the new faces, especially at key positions.

bronco's role in BYU history is important and is sometimes unappreciated on here, but it's always sad to see someone who made a big difference sputter out on a whimper and not finish on top (MJ going to wizards, nash injury in title hunt to lakers, peyton with broncos, etc) maybe jerry seinfeld was right all along, "showmanship [bronco]...when you hit that high note, you say goodnight and walk off!"

in gospel terms it's pretty clear bronco's role was to "resurrect" the BYU program not "exalt" it...i don't know who our "Savior" is but bronco's gonna be crucified over the next two years and make way for someone new...and it's gonna get ugly IMHO.
