I don't know much about this stuff Jason Buck is saying.
But I do know Alema pretty well, his sons played football with mine and we have gotten to be friends. Alema is a good dude, a classic poly who loves football. He is also a BYU guy. He worships Lavell and had the time of his life at the 30th reunion of the 1984 football team last Saturday night.
Yet if you bump into him you will see him decked out in all Ute gear. He's thrilled to be working for Kyle and the U. He won't run down BYU or Bronco, not even in private conversations. But it's clear that in his view, Utah is today what BYU was when he played there. It's the top program in the state, the place most HS players in the state want to play, has a well-oiled poly pipeline...
I'm not saying all of that is true, what I am saying is this is a loyal BYU guy who couldn't be more excited to be working for the U. That's not the end of the world, a lot of us will change allegiances for a job. But even from someone who refuses to air an grievances, it's obvious he feels more connected to the U than to BYU,
And Alema is the kind of guy who poly's are drawn to.
