Our education system is messed up.
My wife is in her 1st year teaching 3rd grade.

She went to a meeting today with the principal and the other 2 teachers to discuss proficiency of students on a recent test.

The other 2 teachers report that their students are 85% proficient.

My wife reports that her students are 60% proficient.

During the discussion it is revealed that the other 2 teachers proficiency is only higher in the story problem section of the test. Upon further review, they explain how they read each question to the students and then explain, in their own words, how they should solve the problem. My wife is grinning and thinking about how ridiculous it is to give a test and then scaffold the students to the correct answer. To her surprise the principal orders her to give the story problem portion of the test another try and use the same tactic with her students.

How is this not cheating?
