So Bronco implemented a 3.0 GPA standard, and that is a higher standard than Utah for sure. But Stanford makes their athletes meet the same admissions standards as everyone else. 2% of accepted Stanford students had a GPA below 3.7. Ergo, the Stanford standard is much higher. With the Stanford standard being so much higher, is it by itself tougher than the BYU combination of academic requirements and the HC?
It is my position that the Stanford standard is higher. Stanford has been a much better in football than BYU the past decade. So BYU failing to get the same type of players is not something BYU can blame on standards. It is just a fact that stud football players with high GPA's prefer Stanford, or ND, or even Duke.
PS We all know someone that picked BYU over Stanford, but that is not the norm. I have a buddy that turned down Duke Law for Utah Law, and will never use that as an argument to say Utah is even in Duke's league.
