I disagree that it makes our independence permanent. I think it's a
scheduling issue for the ACC. They want another P5 team to schedule that has maximum flexibility. By declaring that we are a P5 school (or the equivalent), we now are, at least as far as the ACC is concerned.
If a P5 conference comes calling, TH will still look at having us join.
